intake question

ok this question is for those that actually know what they are talking about when it comes to under the hood. i have the injen intake in my 1.6l and also have the bypass valve on it. If i was to take the bottom half of the intake off and put the air filter where the bypass valve is, will this improve anything? I am asking this because i am thinking of putting the stock one back in to see if i get better performance. my car just seems to go way to slow now a days. i really have to give it gas to get it to go. Before i didn't have to give it much for it get up and go. If this isn't the problem, can anyone give me any ideas to what could be the problem? Thanks in advance.

Well according to dynos from AEM and from Injen they are both getting the same gains....I can tell you that the bypass valve is negating ANY gain you get from the intake PERIOD !....so i guess the answer to your question is yes, if you remove the bypass valve you will see gains....

You have to be really careful when modifying your car for more power. Most aftermarket systems are tuned for maximum power at the top of the rev scale (sometimes not engineered for anything but looks), like when you are on the track and can keep the revs up, but actually lose low end power (you know, the stuff you use 99% of the time). I will be working out intake/exhaust modifications throughout the next year, trying to get a good balance between the two: some overall increases without any decreases anywhere in the rev range.
