Intake ?
I have an injen intake. Should the breather be cleaned out. I have the front bumper off and have access to the breather. If so, what's the best way to clean it out? I can hook up a car on the outside but don't know shit under the hood.

by breather do you mean filter?? if so you can actually buy a kit that comes with a special kind of oil, to help the filter trap the dirt, or you can simply rinse it out and dry it. but yea if you have access to it, you outta just clean it out.its only helping you. hope i answered your question.

thanx Goldpro! I did mean filter.
I owe you one. |
Remember if it is like a k&n filter it is better for the car if it is cleaned only periodically as over time it trapps more dust. When it is firsted cleaned it lets a lot of dust into the engine.
You have to make a judgement call about when the right time is for cleaning ..... once every 3 - 6 months may be too often depending on your area. |

The GoldPro and Stinkyxy:
Front bumper is getting repainted and I also cut out the two slits in the bottom grill. Will post pics when done along with other goodies such as spraying tint on the APC tails. I asked this question because this is the first time I had the bumper off so I have access to the filter. I appreciate the helpul info and feedback. Anything I can help out with just hit me back with anytime and will greatfully return the favor. Thanx again my pro peeps. http://www.mazdamp3.com/members/rice...i/im000122.jpg |

i clean mine everytime i change the oil. you can buy a K&N filter recharger cleaning kit at your nearest pep boys /auto zone or whatever you have, even wal mart sells them now i think. o yeah and you should be able to get to the filter from the driver side wheel well turn the wheel all the way right and then 2 or 3 screws in the well and 2 on the bottom; front and you should have plenty of room to get the filter on and off, without removing the front bumper.

wow that was a sweet trunk. how you do that?? lol you got more pics of your car that i can see??

thanx for the tip justinMP3, I put on the filter without taking off the bumper although I'm not sure if I did it your way. All I know is that the filter wasn't on the intake and I'm lucky that I didn't lose it. When the body shop took off the bumper the filter fell right out. The bumper was holding the filter which had acorns in it. That might explain my loss of gas mileage and stuttering. We'll see next week. Just cleaned the filter today watching Michael Vick get schooled by the buccs with the K&N you talked about. Fucking Filthy to say the least. First cleaning since installing it almost a year ago. Next is degreasing the engine.
Thanx for feedback! GoldPro - give me an address and I can send pics of the car. Will be posting pics when car comes out of the shop next week. |
