instructions for cold air intake?!?!

I just bought this off ebay, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWN%3AIT

and it looks sweet and I think it will work really well with my 99 Pro ES but I have no idea how to put it on...well i have an idea but was hoping for a how to or manufacurer's PDF instruction sheet or something...

anyonw know where to get a how to with ipics that would include removal of the stock air box and other stuff...?

if you look at the pic, I"m a little worried how it will connect to the car. the pics I've seen online of others have the rubber thing where it meets the car, and mine appears to just be a curved metal part. I haven't taken it out to the car and looked yet (just got it tonight) so I'll post again if I"m having probs with that.

Thanks a ton!

That kit doesn't really look Protege-specific...and if the photo includes everything you get, I believe you are missing some rubber connectors at least. Looks like you could rig it as a short ram perhaps...anyways, good luck.

$25 for shipping?? wow, it's almost like you're ripping them off!!

You should've gotten the other Ebay CAI...they are like $48 shipped. and I could've helped you with it.

If you're willing to drive down to alabama I'll put it on for you!!

yeah...those pics aren't the actual item...i'm pretty sure it is specifically made for the pro...but only pretty sure. I'm no intake expert.

did you happen to know a good how to for the 99-03 protege's? If not I'll just try it on my own tonight...I had to get a pulg for the openspot on the intake (I think it is to mount an additional MAF sensor if you have a turbo or something) and I had to get another rubber piece from menards plumbing section (exact same size as the ones that come with it...just black instead of red, even came with 2 clamps pre "installed" :-)

but other than that I think I'm good to go...

I'll post pics later tonight so everyone will konw what the hell I'm talking about!

Roddimus...

isn't the intake you got just ram air? Or at least it didn't look like it would be able to fit the filter in the wheel well/ behind fender area. The pipes didn't look long enough. That is why I went with this one...I'm hoping it will work.

PS what is that metal tube that runs right over the hole in the car, right by the coolant resevoir. The tube that you have to relocate or bend or cut and splice together with tubing...

thanks.

Well...it's finally in...not finished by any means...will prob have to take another 2 hrs to get to fit perfectly and mount my coolent resivour better, but it works and is air tight and sounds and preforms awesome!

So much for fking no modification required though...I had to go buy a damn hack saw from walmart at 11pm...

someone said that it took them 45 min...well they must be a gear head god because it took me from 8:45pm until 2:15. But it's really nice, and no CEL or anything...I had it at first but didn't realize that i needed to connect the air temp sensor from the stock airbox to the lead inside the car. After that and a reset of the computer it worked and idled wonderfully!

I love my intake :-D next is a cat back exhaust...any suggestions? Not too loud, I've heard racing beat is pretty good?!?!?

Thanks for everything you all do! I love the forums

That's one thing about working on cars that will never change. How the F did that guy do what I just did in less time than it took me. And here's tip for next time you decide to start taking material off a car. Craftsman makes a neat little hand router. It even has a bendable hand attachment. Makes it great for cutting out holes, or making them larger. You can get a good starter kit for around $70. Believe me, it's worth the investment!
