Injen CAI vs Ebay CAI..you decide

Here are two shots of the Injen CAI and the Ebay CAI. I'll also include a picture of the two filters seperatly. This thread is for those who seem to think the Ebay intakes are of some lesser quality than name brand pieces.

Spending over 200$ on some bent tubing and a cone filter is really a travesty. But most people just like have the name injen on their car. Just like people like having the name nike on their shoes. Its what I like to call consumer whorism. I use a ebay CAI with a APEXi filter and I gurantee its much better than some injen or AEM intake.

yeah, I'm more of a function over form type person. If it works and won't break me I'm happy with it. The trick to it is to know which items are worth spending the big money on and which pieces aren't worth it.

Hehe, actually Matty, you should photshop the Injen name out and let people guess which is which!

Haha, I was thinking the same thing, I actually expected that! Some people could probably tell but it would just better state the point that they are so similar and your paying for it to say "Injen" on it! I personally believe its the fancy "J" that gets'em lol

nah, I'm not into tricking people....I don't think ANYONE could make any sort of intellectual statement against an Ebay intake after seeing this thread.

In all honesty even the Ebay filter looks better. More surface area means more air.

I agree, in the small pics, before I clicked to enlarge, I thought the left one was the injen one, but I was wrong!

I ended up swapping luke my ebay cai filter for his injen filter. I dont use the ebay intake anymore so the filter was just hanging out in my shop. We're also doing the very first "Matty P Ram-Air intake" on his car!! very ghetto!

Teh Injen is teh suck

Is the eBay CARB approved?

Roddimus Prime February-20th-2005 10:52 PM

I get your point.....go get a Injen sticker and an injen carb sticker and Yes, it will be approved....who'se going to know any different?

It was a sincere question Roddimus, so I hope you didn't take it wrong. No "point" was intended. My Injen equipped DX is Not Of This Earth anymore, and while I've said I don't plan on modding my new P5, you know how those things can change, LOL. Since the eBay is a bargain compared to what I had, I was/am truely curious, but living here in Cal-EEE-fornia, the greenies can play havoc with car ownership. There were even rumors floating around last year that The Governator was going to go along with some legislation that would even outlaw "CARB" approved mods, but I don't know if that was true or not.

Yeah, he's a real environmentalist. Running around in a bloody Hummer.

i think the best course of action is the ebay intake with an apexi power filter. it filters better than the k&n series and is a dry filter, so you never have to worry about overoiling it. that is all.

Roddimus Prime February-21st-2005 12:41 PM

I live in an emissions free state and have no idea how other states are about mods but I hear all you need is a little sticker from Injen which they'll give for free....the injen stickers are free from several vendors on the net and you're golden.

Truc, isn't the Apexi filter like $140 though?? I saw some filter that was supposed to be amazing but it cost more than the whole intake.
