did you put on your MAF backwards?

I had the same problem, make a gasket for the sensor, make sure its on tight and straight, the CEL should not come back. At least it didnt for me.

How do you make the gasket? I have the Injen CAI with CEL. Its driving me nuts!!

some people use a bicycle innertube, I used a piece of dynamat I had lying around and it worked. Note: This did not fix the hesitation problem, just the CEL. If you do a search on the innertube thing, you will probably find a write up on it. If you're interested I have a Simota twin charger intake for the 1.6 which does not throw a CEL at all. If you do a search on Simota, you'll find that no one has ever had a problem with them. I also have a thunder header for sale.

I might be interested in the Simonta. Why are you selling the parts? Going turbo or something?? How much you want for the CAI?

neerajg September-28th-2006 04:40 PM

yeah man, Hiboost kit on order, the proteges my project car now, I picked up a 2006 MX-5 GT last month so I'm trying to do get some of this stuff out right now. The intake has barely any miles on it and is in mint condition, I'll sell it for 50 bucks plus shipping, if you or someone you know is interested in the header, it has a built in CEL eliminator and fitment is perfect. Again almost no miles on it and I would like 275 for it but if you wanted both I could work a deal.

kargoboy September-28th-2006 04:46 PM

Haha, Neeraj, you didn't keep that stuff for very long! Good luck with the turbo project, though. I hope you don't have to wait as long as macdaddy did, you might end up with a Mustang, too.

And steve-o already has the header...and the Thunder exhaust. Uninstalled. So sell him the intake and we'll see how long that sits in his garage, too, lol.

yea man, decided to just bite the bullet on the turbo since the protege isnt my everyday car now. Kargo, Your products, service and pricing are great. If you know someone whos looking for the header let me know.

Yes yes. That is very true. Couple that with not having the right tools to do the job and that equals S.O.L. Thats where money comes into play, which I don't have a lot of at the moment. So thats why everything is sitting till I get the tools/manpower/money to put everything on.

Ha ha. You guys are funny. Ever think of doing stand-up? My biggest problem when to comes to installing these parts (besides knowledge) is jackstands. If I had a set of those, then I might be able to get under the car and do some learning/working. Thats kinda why I haven't done things like my springs and shocks/struts.

macdaddyslomo October-2nd-2006 03:18 PM

dude, jackstands are like $20

I told you what, about 100 times I would help if you needed it...jeez man give a brutha a call....
