I'm Curious

here's an interesting question...
does anyone know if there is any difference between the automatic transmission in a 2002 protege and the ones in 2003+ protege 5's that have the manumatic function? i'm wondering because it might be kinda nice to have the manual gate in my car... plus it looks nicer too... any info would be appreciated!

nobody has any input?

Its the same tranny. Its also the same through all the 3rd gen years, and its the same in the 3.

Could you have manumatic probubly but no one has figured it out yet. As far as we can figure its all ecu controlled. So if you were to swap the shifter and ecu youd be fine.

It should be theoreticly possible to just come up with a signal to directly input into the tranny to make it work.

Yeah, my 02 came w/the manu.

so theoretically, i need the shifter assembly, floor console (so it looks stock) and the ecu from a manumatic equipped P5 or 3... sounds expensive but good to know for the future... thanks zero and jdm!
