Not quite. Fuel mixes with warmer air better than colder air, meaning that an engine (generally) needs a richer mixture with colder incoming air. During the time before the engine warms up and heats the intake air, the IAT sensor tells the ECU how much fuel to inject. If the amount of fuel is wrong, the idle gets bad. This is one reason why this mod may result in a "Check Engine" light.

Also, to address another post, intercoolers don't benefit N/A engines. N/A engines don't significantly heat the intake air because they don't pressurize it. The intercooler will create an intake restriction that will outweigh any hp gain you will get from the slightly cooler intake air.

You got the answer "DO not mess with the IAT!" , slomo, you'll get "check engine light" on and driveability will suffer. I learned it hard way, wanna try it too?
So I told you everything you need to know and I will never help with mod which will have negative effect.

WAY OLD THREAD I KNOW. But i was doin a search and came across it. -obender66- i don't know if you ever got the answer to your question but -Sil_Pro5- was right in a way. However yours isn't in the manifold its in the MAF.
