It's been done once or twice that I know of, and I think total cost was around $4000-$5000 in the end. It's barely worth the money or the trouble, so you're almost better off just selling the car and buying a manual instead. Nothing's stopping you from doing the swap, but it's just not too cost effective ya know..
EDIT: Here's a link that should help you get all the information about the swap. Good luck if you decide to take that route .. http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showt...mtx+conversion |
Unless you OWN a shop and you are looking to have lots and lots of Fun I highly recomdn Either reinforcing your automatic transmision or getting a new car. I was also exploring the posibility to switch to manual, but its expensive not to mension a Pain in the lower back (ass).
IF you choose to go forward with the project, ill recommend looking in a junk yard for the whole car minus engine, cause you will need axles , housing , clutch, ECU trans, mounting points AND a lot of clips screws not to mention diagrams and stuff like that, but if you have the whole car assembled It wwill be a lot easyer to figure out what goes were, and how my .02 Dollars |
