Hor Air deflector idea for K&N filter

I was concerned by the fact that the radiator fan was blowing hot air toward my K&N filter. I installed an aluminium panel for that. You can see the pics by clicking the link below.

The weather dropped around 15 recently here as we are approaching the winter. I noticed cracks on the right in the aluminium sheet that probably came from the aspiration (sheet was too thin). I decided to rebuild it using this time 1 mm aluminium panel but since the weather is much colder, I will leave it like this until next summer.

i think the current state is better than that tube. it would totally suck in extra debris and water.

Well, not really that much water. The aluminum enclosure he made is not going to be air tight and so there isn't that much negative pressure built up (if any) to suck up water (like drinking water from a straw that has a big hole in the middle, above water). Might be little sprinkles of water that make it up the small hose, but that shouldn't be a big concern.

Debris and other crap gets into the engine compartment anyways. That's why they have the filter there in the first place.

Good attempt, nevertheless.

Actually, what was wrong with the "flower pot" method?

No, i mean why didn't you use that? It's because it reminded me of what I did with my previous 95 civic a few years ago. I had a cone filter and so I cut a plastic tupperware and enclosed the filter in it. Then I cut another hole in the tupperware near the front of the filter and attached some plastic ducting to the hole. The ducting goes down to and area enclosed behind the bumper.

Good old memories :)
