High Compression Pistons

I just ordered the high compression pistons from SRMotorsports, and i was wondering if anyone had them on there Protege5/MP3?I might not be able to put them on right away. A service guy at my dealership said that i should get a good 12 to 20hp from them. Is this true?

what's the compression on these?

10.7 to 1

yeah, there 10-7-1. I also have to run on premium fuel as soon as I put them in. That wont be much of a problem, I try often as I can to use premium. I'm also going to see how much my machanic will charge to polish my heads. Might as well since hes changing the pistons!

I saw on your future mods you have down for turbo. If you are serious about that I would highly recommend NOT getting the High compression pistons and saving some more and getting some custom forged 8.5:1 pistons so that you can run more boost. With the Mazdaspeed pistons you may be able to run 5 psi intercooled before you start to ping. If you go High Compression do it right and go all NA if you are planning on going turbo then start off by doing it right. Just my.02

True I'm just one of those that like to go to 8:1 or 8.5:1 for turbo and run high levels on those ratios

I was looking into mods and found this piston thread.. Then thought to myself if I did go turbo, I'd want to stay away from the high compression ones. There are two schools of thought about pistons and turbos.. One says lower the compression, and crank the boost. That will give you a pretty soft bottom end, and hella acceleration when it gets on the boost. Other schools says stock compression, or maybe one point lower, and moderate boost.. Gives you better light throttle drivability, and good power one on the boost.. I subscribe to that school.
