Hi-Flo cats

I notice that very few of the members here have hi-flo cats. My experiences in the past show that a hi-flo cat can do wonder on these types of cars...I'd guess about 3/4whp with the cat alone, coupled with a catback you'd probably gain up to 10whp...views on this???

VagaBond-X December-24th-2002 03:06 PM

well if it is tru that I will get something like 10whp...then NICE

cuz I'm looking at getting some type of exhaust....and a hi flow cat might be in my pros near future....

can anyone comment on this??

Sorry... Us Californians must break through a titanium safe to get to our cats. Oops... smog check! Gotta run!

i got a cat back thermal exhaust, and yes it does wonders...car redlines very easily now...lots of low end torque too....

zoominD December-24th-2002 09:48 PM

nightowl, where did you get your thermal cat-back and how much did you pay? If you don't mind me asking.

VagaBond-X December-24th-2002 11:40 PM

Me and NightOwl already discuseed his thermal cat back exhaust

he told me it was very expensive...some thing $1200+ canadian
if my memory serves me correct...or was it moore than that

I've heard that with a bit of grinding and polishing the exhaust manifold is fine. The flex pipe is, I'm told the real problem in the exhaust system.

no kitty....

I removed one of my cats and my exhaust resonator and noticed a huge difference. There is though, not much you can do about the stock header design(2.0 Protege).

I'm thinking about getting this done, but I don't want it to be too loud, I mean obnoxiously loud. Did it end up this way? I might get a high flow resonater to help it quiet down. All this will be done when I get my CheckPoint cannon style muffler installed..

I found the Thermal cat-back at www.speedpeople.com for $579 US, would that be a good buy ? nightowl, how is the sound of the thermal ?

VagaBond-X December-28th-2002 06:29 PM

well you gotta see the video that nightowl made of his exhaust....it sounds sweet...IMO

zoominD December-28th-2002 11:06 PM

The guy who did my exhaust told me the same thing too.
