Help!!!

about 6 months ago i took my car into the factory b/c it wasnt idleing right they said there was nothing wrong with it.... so they said that they raised the idlo well it didnt fix the from shaking when i was at a stop.... this afternoon i was driving my car and when i stopped at a light it started its normal vibrating.. which it only does it when it kicks on... i dont really know anything about vehicles... all i know its fine one second and it will kick up and then start vibrating and then kick back down and be fine... well this afternoon when it kicked up it started stuttering like it was going to kick off... so i gave it a little gas and it was ok for a sec.... but when i finally got home i just let it sit in the yard and idol... and i popped the hood and sounded like it was gasping for air... and now it doesnt want to stay running unless i keep giving it gas.... i hvae a 2000 protege LX 1.6 L and it only has 24,700 miles on it.... what could the problem be???

Have you tried the simple things yet like different gas or cleaning the air filter? If it just "kicks in" the two front cooling fans may change the idle when they turn on. Just some suggestions

Have you checked your spark plugs? Possibly one or two are fouled? If you're getting more vibration now it's possible not all of your cylinders are firing all the time.

ok its fixed.... one of the vacuum hoses broke...

Which vacuum hose was it? My girlfriends 99 1.8L is having the same problem. It feels like one or more of the cylinders aren't firing when the problem is happening. Otherwise the car runs just fine when the problem isn't happening. Maybe by knowing which of your vacuum lines went I can solve her problem.

Thanks
