Has anyone tried this for some basic tuning?

Seems pretty good.
esp if it will work on the focus. Although I think our cars are more pickey. All it does is change the maf singnal, this would work fine if our closed loop (at wot) werent based only on the O2 sensor which this does not modify.

We need something like that for partial throttle then some thing else for wot. Doesnt sound to hard. JUst Two seperete signal interceptors then have the switch from one to the other.

The people who make it said it will work fine. Check out the specs on the site closely. It would be great.

A friend has one on a Supercharged Tiburon and it works very well for him. With just a CAI and Cat back (to charger yet) he gained 13whp with just using this tuner.

looks very interesting. I'm still wanting to get something worked out on the e-mange ultimate though. I wish Greddy would just send me a unit for testing purposes and if I got it to work I'd pay them for it!

mattsstang87 November-25th-2005 07:47 AM

I think that it will be one of those "if I have the money to spare" purchases since I am N/A. But, I might make myself a nice t-3 or t-3/t-4 based low boost turbo kit in the future. This tuner might be enough for a 6-8 psi system. Have to experiment in it N/A first.

BTW, Roddimus, your j-spec cams came from SR right? Was the exhaust cam a drop in too? I thought the base circle was different on the J-Spec exhausts so they would always have to be shimmed.

Roddimus Prime November-25th-2005 11:27 AM

yeah, bought both from SR and they dropped right in. No shims needed. Also I did get their advertised claims.... 18whp 15lb-ft

mattsstang87 November-26th-2005 06:56 PM

I have the Mazda J-Spec intake cam ready (new in the box), but I think that I am going to wait and get the SR exhaust and do them together. I guess the intake manifold and cams will have to wait until Jan. or Feb. :tear:

you know what might be a good bump for you is to buy a spare head and have it assembled (polsihed) OFF the car with the new cams, then install that single runner manifold and you'd have a real good gain.

I've got a spare head here. I'm going to strip it bare and take it to a local engine builder to see if they can do anything with it.

mattsstang87 November-27th-2005 12:01 PM

I would love to do the head thing, but I don't know about the cost. Are they cheap to find? Also, which single runner intake are you talking about? The 626 intake?

Roddimus Prime November-27th-2005 02:09 PM

yeah. the single runner manifold I think will be the next "big" mod since it's so cheap.

mattsstang87 November-28th-2005 08:42 AM

Have you tried the single runner manifold. I want to see how it will do on an N/A car. Yes the runners are long, but not so long as to not make a broad powerband. Anyway, I like torque.

Roddimus Prime November-28th-2005 09:01 AM

im doing a GB on them now! I'll have one shortly.

for me it's easy to dyno NA and FI all I have to do is remove the belt.

mattsstang87 November-28th-2005 11:57 AM

How much with the GB? I would just sell my ported VTCS-less intake.
