Haltech E6k

I came in contact with this guy in my town that is willing to sell me a brand new Haltech E6k stand alone ECM for $850. Does anyone know anything about this one? I want to get it for my the turbo i'm going to install in the furture. If i buy it and install it now, i know it'll work, but i was woundering if it will pass emmission testing, becuz it will modify the fuel map and overall engine management. What do you know about this or the system, Matty( rodimus)?

it's a good system but if it's not complete with wiring harness and sensors I'd pass....quickly. p.s. it will not pass an OBDII inspection either.

These Haltech use/require GM sensors for their input and if you have to buy a non-terminated harnessm sensors and tuning you'll be spending a LOT of money.

Thanks for the quick reply. Look like i've pass on this. What seriers do you recommend for my 00 Dx from the haltech seriers, that will pass the OBDII inspection? The E6X maybe? Or maybe an Aem system??

I was going to post this same thread. :laugh2:

I was wondering what good would the Haltech do us NA guys? Would we see enough gains out of it to be worth the money?

bump. No on can recommend a good standalone ECM. Anyone????

Sorry, I would suggest the E6X for the protege. HiBoost sells them for about $1400 and they have full fuel and timing control and will be very easy to make some power with. Plan on spending several hours of dyno time on a dyno tuning to get the most out of it though. Also, if you tune for 93 octane I could easily see you getting 20-25whp with no other mods. Add to that a full exhaust, CAI and some cams and you'll be pretty quick.

Just i'll start saving. Out here in California, the highest octane is 91. Thanks for the info. Maybe when my friend go to Australia for vacation, he can pick me up one for cheaper then 1400 Usd. Since haltech is in the outbacks.

the cost isn't for the shipping or unit..it's for the custom made harness for the protege. Juan at hiboost makes a custom pre-terminated harness with all the new sensors you'll need ..... you can't beat it...seriously.
