Stueck Sep 16, 2004 06:30 PM

what, not a good thing for a protege?

All it is is some sort of RC circuit that you hook to your intake that tricks the ECU into changing some of its fuel maps, advancing the timing and such....wouldn't reccomend it.

*why not*? If all we need is a little leaner and advanced timing - why not just change the resistance of the incoming signal from the sensors to trick the ecu to shift the baseline for timing and mixture?

From my rednek days with a small block impala [geeze alarm!] i would set the base timing advanced (as far as i could without knocking on premium gas).

On my 3.8l M(r)ustang there was a lever on the distributor that would shift the baseline for timing - adding a washer under the lever gave me ~4 degrees.

If it is just a resistor - what value? I would try it.

I defer to the MAN (Roddimus, of course!)

He's getting hammered by Ivan right now, so I don't know when he's going to be back on, but I can tell you he will reccomend against it (as he has in the past). He'll probably have good reason too...

It's a 15 cent resister from Radio Shack.

Stueck Sep 17, 2004 02:24 PM

Matty Mooling Sep 17, 2004 02:42 PM
