quick question. since you figured out the ecu problem, would just bypassing the ecu give us hp since the ecu would be reading off the sensors the whole time instead of going to the fuel maps in the ecu. thanks in advance craig

Roddimus Prime June-14th-2005 06:56 PM

its very possible....thats why i'm not dynoing with the ecu-bypass installed. I want all gains to be shown with the tuning.

I don't think there will be much of a noticeable difference in power with just the bypass in place. You actually need to adjust the AFR's down from their stock rich positions to make any gain.

bbsf2 June-14th-2005 10:38 PM

thats what i figured, just thought id ask

vielster June-16th-2005 02:49 PM

So when you hit WOT, does the computer only revert the fuel maps, or does it mess with the ignition timing as well? If the timing is affected as well, you may see some gains even with the WOMP kit with the bypass....at least something worthwhile to check out.

Roddimus Prime June-16th-2005 06:13 PM

I would NOT recommend this for a FI person. Power is made by leaning out the AFR's from the overly rich stock condition. You do NOT want to lean anything out on a FI system. If you're runnign rich you want to use your FMU or EMS designed solely to provide fuel for boost. A S-AFCII is just used to make MINOR adjustments.

hey guys I am sorry that it is taking so long but I have run into some things that need to be put first like my brakes they are warped and now they are screaching. It is time new pads and rotors because my rotors are beyond turning. But after that Matty and I should have things going under way, this thread is not dead we will come through.

w00t, just waiting for the greenlight from Johnnie. The protege-pak is ready to go.

COOL! :bigthumb:

Roddimus Prime July-1st-2005 03:01 PM

what do you guys think about a $400shipped price tag for the new S-AFCII and loop-bypass if it makes 10-15whp?

I know it sounds like a lot of cash but there has been no other REAL way to make any power.

MC July-1st-2005 09:13 PM

das a steal @ that price...

it comes to around $530 AUstralian dollars and SAFCII;s go for around 500ish here......

so i assume u have now tested it and all?? LOL sorry very exciting news and i am dying to know the improvements its made

Roddimus Prime July-1st-2005 09:22 PM

it's not been tested yet. I'm trying to see if it's worth anymore of my time and money to market a product for retail sale. Sometimes I do stuff that end up just costing me money so I'm seeing if thats a reasonable price for that type of gain. It's what I'm expecting. Shipping to Australia may be a bit more but I'll work with you anyway I can.

p.s. I never heard from you about that ford typhoon thing....get with me. in 18months I'm paying cash.

MC July-1st-2005 11:36 PM

hehe sorry been hell busy with new job and uni... will do it as soon as possible hehehe

hughes412 July-4th-2005 09:44 AM

If this does work then $400 I think is at the high end of the price range. If its 10 or less then 250-3. I would say if you have 200 in parts then mark it to 300 plus shipping. Although you might have 20-100 hrs in testing you cant put a price on that, plus if you go to high you'll put it out of reach for alot of people that drive these cars. If this works and its at a good price word will get out and you'll be swomped with people wanting it. I don't wont to offend you or your work but remember the wagner cams. they might get 15-20 whp but he out priced them and they are not sell. If he would have made the price around the J-spec price and even 50-100 more he would sell the hell out of them. So I guess I'm just saying don't do the same thing just because it's the only one.

Roddimus Prime July-4th-2005 11:13 AM

true, what I'm looking at is the cost of the S-afcII plus the cost of the protege pack plus the cost of my dyno time, plus a small profit. I don't know if it'll sell in any quantity so I have to price it so I can make my money back off it pretty quickly.

I'm sure if they started selling real well I could buy in bulk and cut the price down a bit

Da P-Funk! July-5th-2005 06:57 AM

$400 for bolt-on power sounds reasonable...

I factor in the ease of installation and portability - if (God Forbid) the car was totalled tomorrow - i could pull the box for the next car (Duh! Ofcourse another P5 someway/somehow!)

More than $400 would probably go out of range for me.
