hey my front engine mount is shot, can someone help me pick a good company to buy one from? and possibly give me some price quotes. thanx

how dependable is it when i do this?? because my front mount is pretty beat. and whats this stuff cost, also where can i find it, and auto store??

cool thanx, ill have to give it a try, i dont know how succesful i will be, hopefully it will go good. whats davids member name? so i can ask him what he did exactually.

aren'the polyurathane engine mounts from AWR good? Or maybe not. but if they are good, then you can get them through there.

Of course I got a site. It's http://www.awrracing.com/awr.html ,and the mounts are in products->protege engine. They got other stuff to.

so pretty much my only option is to get it from the dealer, or try the polyurethane adhesive.

You can buy the urethane from mcmaster.com Go to the website and type in this part number:8644K18. For less than $30 you will have enough to fill 8 mounts--2 cars worth. Just get the mounts out, clean them up and then tape one side with duct tape. Then fill the other in and wait 24 hours. Put them back in and enjoy it:0 Look at my website for more pics.

Oh yea--that should take you 15min. to get the front mount out. Then another 15min. to prep it and pur the urethane. Then wait 24 hours, take another 15min. to slap it in and you are finished. Beer anyone? :cool:

Actually, the front and rear engine mounts on all 99+ manual tranny Proteges are the same. The AWR kit replaces these 2 mounts, so it will work on any 99+ Pro.

The only difference in engine mounts on any manual tranny BJ Protege is the No. 4 engine mount (the one on the top of the tranny), which is different on the 2.0L cars.

shumax You are the man! What is that compound usually used for? Anyone know which stores in Canada would have this?

Hey thanks! I have to give thanks to the guy in the picture, Ben Davis of the SE-R community as he is the one doing the pouring. That's my arm holding the dogbone (front mount).

There is another option. You can go to Home Depot, Lowes, etc and buy a product called 3M window weld which comes in a tube---like a tube of caulk. That stuff needs to cure for 48 hours. I have been told that it's a bit stiffer which is good if you are doing hard launches, bad if you don't like vibrations at idle. Don't get me wrong, it won't shake your fillings loose but there will be a slight shake. Keep in mind, this will only happen if you do all of the mounts. You aren't going to have that problem if you only fill the front mount.

yeah im debating weather or not to just buy the mount, i dont know if i can trust the sealent.

Wow! You must have a lot of cash on hand to expire. I mean, the pourable urethane is EXACTLY what upgraded mounts are made of---exactly. Your stock one is rubber and isn't meant for hard launches. Even if you don't do hard launches, it's good to have extra support for the tranny/engine.

I have seen the upgraded mount for $120 for the Pro. For $30 you can do all four. There's nothing to worry about other than making sure you clean them up a bit. If you do that, you will be happy for years. Yea, they may not look as nice, but how many times do you pop your hood to show off your engine mounts :rolleyes:

I wish you were closer, I'd do it for you in 30min.
