Found 1.6L Light Weight Flywheel
FYI,
If you have a 1.6L Protégé with manual transmission and what a light weight flywheel the 1.6L Miata which includes the 1.8L Miata light weight flywheel options well fit. I've replaced the flywheel in my 99 1.6L Protégé with an Aluminum Flywheel from AASCO for use with a 1.6L Miata P/n 104862-11. I purchased the flywheel form Helltoe Automotive (www.heeltoe.com) for $355.00 Also note The stock flywheel wieghed in at 14lbs on the bathroom scale and the Aluminum one wighed 6lbs. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...0/f9f1d723.jpg Friction side OEM 14lbs vs. Aluminum 6lbs Flywheel http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...e/f9f1d714.jpg Back side OEM 14lbs vs. Aluminum 6lbs Flywheel http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...a/f9f1d70d.jpg OEM 14lbs vs. Aluminum 6lbs Flywheel |

What if you don't have a manual, but have the 1.6 liter Protege? If I get a turbo in the future id like to get a flywheel to help my car rev a bit quicker and reach that boost faster.

What should I expect if I just install the flywheel and quaife and clutch without any other major engine mods. would I have a problem stalling or other issues?

steve_protege If you don't have manual you donm't have a flywheel. With low boost levels and taking it easy the stock tranny should be OK but I'd get it rebuilt stronger do a search there is link to place that can do that typr of work on the 1.6l tranny
davesdailyjive Stalling no with the lighter flywheel you'll rev up easier getting into the torque quicker and with the LSD you'll have tons more grip at the wheels to make use of the quick rev torque getter [IMG]http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid99/p9146947a8b1e096fdb87ca07257ff5c0/f9f1d723.jpg.orig.jpg[IMG] |
