exhaust header
 

Anyone seen an exhaust header for 2000+ pretege 2L?? I cant find anything except the mazdaspeed one from corksport, but its a littlepricey considering that you have to mod it (although they dont say exactly what needs to be modified).
Anyone know if anyone is working on making one? I just want a little more power, and the header is that easiest way to get it. Otherwise turbo is all I can think of (not swapping my motor for fs-ze, beyond my mechanical abilities).

APC is coming out with a header but I have heard it will eliminate the Main Catalyst. Also AWR makes a header but does the same thing. If you want to keep your stock Cat and fittings I am making a public turbo kit that should be out in a couple months if all goes well and will run between 2500-3000 bucks and that is a complete bolt on system.:bt:

AWR? where can I find this? And about your turbo kit, can I just get the turbo manifold and if so how much?

Mazdamotorsports carries the AWR header but it is way over priced through them best bet is to go striaght to AWR can't remember the website though please post if anyone else knows..as for the turbo manifold I will see about that I am going to try and get it made into a cast manifold...the log tube header is very complicated to make and I am still working out a couple kinks. I've gone through 2 prototypes so far and this one should be the one that will work right...the others worked just the fitment wasn't quite what I wanted.

The header AWR has is their own design...I thought the one Mazda Motorsports had was the one from the FS-ZE...They are both 4-2-1 headers which are better for street applications than the 4-1 that some of the World Challenge cars use.

I thought this mainly becuase both Mazda Motorsports, and Cork Sport had it posted long before AWR. And Corksport said they were waiting for theirs from Japan.

I have also heard that AWR doesn't have any to sell yet because they got flooded with e-mail about it.

The 4-1 helped the Proteges in the SPEED World Challenge better than the 4-2-1 design. The 4-1 gave better response above 7000 rpm...

I was told the 4-2-1 was better fit for street use because the power is little more "usable".

Does anyone have any specific info on the AWR header? Does it have fittings for the EGR tube and O2 sensor? Does it mate to the stock exhaust? Has AWR gotten any better about replying to email?

I've sent an e-mail asking those very questions. No reply yet. The owner is pretty busy from what I understand and can't always reply quickly.

That's the same thing I've gotten from Tony when I've emailed him in the past. He doesn't list a phone number on the website either. I'm kind of surprised he's even bothering to produce the parts, since it seems almost impossible to get them.

I believe the AWR header is a race style header thus it would not have the EGR fitting and it woudl eliminate the stock cat. From what I have heard the APC header that is coming out will be a shorty header that will mount in the stock location and have the EGR fitting similar to the ford focus short header that is out now.

I personally have nothing against removing my primary cat, but the header should at least allow you to mount the egr valve and o2 sensor. A "drop in" replacement part that they are advertising should at least have that. I should be able to drop in the part, everything working like normal, but extra HP from a less restictive header, and bypassing the primary cat (which is what I think is the real power robber).

Keep in mind that these parts weren't designed specifically for our cars. The MazdaSpeed header was probably designed for the Jspec FS-ZE engine which wouldn't have the primary cat our engines do. I don't think anyone knows about the AWR header yet.

Either one is better than the stock manifold and primary cat. Bring one on! ;)
