Engine Swap?
 
hey all, this might be a rather moronic question, but i thought i would ask nonetheless....is it possible to swap in a 2000 1.8 Pro ES or even the 2001 2.0 ES engine in a 2000 Pro LX? i only ask because i have just come to Mazda-world from Honda-Land(so please bear with me), and the big thing with Civics and Integras is to swap the bigger, more powerful engines into the lesser cars. is the same possible with the Pro's? it just seems to me that there are just more options for the 1.8 and 2.0 than the 1.6's.

can anyone answer this for me? pleeeeeease?:cool:

Im not to sure on swaping the ingines but anything can be done for the right amount of money. If it would fit i would place the new mazda 6 engine inside the bay it puts out more than the mazda speed and your car i guarantee will be the quigest one thats stock for that modle lol.

It seems for the money that there's better ways to make more power. I would first look into a low boost turbo system. This is probably the best way to make good all around power in the $1500 range. Also, installing something like a turbo kit will give you a much deeper appreciation for your engine and it's maintaince schedule!!

also an excellent suggestion, i had considered this(and still am), but my dad(who owns 1/2 the car) really frowns upon that option, and i suppose that i am
:mach: 'bound to his wishes'. but he did say that he would consider things if i planned it out correctly and showed him exactly how i was going to accomplish it safely.....so....there may still be hope for the turbo.:)

oh yeah, about the ZL-VE......suppose i can get it working in my Pro...... is there any way that i could change out the 1.5L shortblock with my 1.6L? in other words, are the bores on the two engines the same? you know, the cylinder diameter? so i could enjoy the variable valve timing with more displacement and therefore even MORE power?:confused: i am very curious about this....it would almost be like an LS/VTEC setup for a honda......:evilgrin:
