Engine internals
 

This might be a stupid question i'm about to ask. I was wondering if i could swap in internals from a miata into my 00 pro. 1.6L . The engines is somewhat similar. By internals, i mean, cams, piston, rods, and etc.

I heard that u cannot.... and that the engines are comepltely different..... but thats what I've heard.... it doesn't mean what i said is tru....but i think u cant... cuz the engines are probably designed a little differently

I know for a fact the cams will NOT work. From what I understood the rods/pistons/crank will work. The miata used to be the 1.6L motor. This would be a better question to ask on the 2nd gen forum. A lot of guys there have done a swap like this.

not interchangeable...just cuz you see 1.6L doesnt make them the same. our 1.6L is a Z series engine while the 1.6L Miata's were B series engines...more similar to a 1.8L bp like in the 1st gen pro's and 2nd gen miata's

yeah, I figured as much.....thats why I'm not a 1st or 2nd gen mod!!
