EGR Valve, IAT, Thermostat mods

Anyone please tell me if any of this sounds like a bad idea

1. The egr vavle. If i hook a switch up to it to turn it off (its electronically controlled in the 3rd gens) would it do me any good?

2. The IAT mod. Where i hook a resistor up inline with it to make it trick the ecu into thinking its cooler air going in. Hook a switch to that so i could turn it on for WOT.

3. Would a lower thermostat help at all? (and what is our thermostat set at anyway?)

Thnx

- Not going to do anything for you.

2. The IAT mod. Where i hook a resistor up inline with it to make it trick the ecu into thinking its cooler air going in. Hook a switch to that so i could turn it on for WOT.

-WOT operates under a pre-set fuel/air/timing curve. IAT mod isn't going to change that and not give you any free HP.

-Depends on how low you go. 180F should be the lowest. Factory t-stat is probably around 192F. Engine was designed to run in a certain temperature range. You put a 160F thermostat in there and the computer will think the car is never warming up properly. Not sure how it will run and may even throw a code. ODBII is picky.

tricking ECU shouldn't work!

Would any computer mods net anything in our cars? Seeing that the computer has preset WOT values. Short of a stand-alone system, or a piggy-back designed to insert it's own values, The OBD-II system isn't open to tricks, (as of yet :( ) yes/no?.
You might see an improvement when Autocrossing or such, because you use part throttle, but I don't think the gain is going to help any.
For the cost of a few switches and resistors, go buy a coffee and practice up on your reaction times, that will net you just as much of an improvement. :D
