EEC V?

Hey guys and gals. Just joined your board to help support my wife's 5. I myself drive a SVT Contour turbo.

My question is this. I am able to custom burn chips for any Ford. Being that Mazda is partially Ford....do these cars run on an EEC processor? I took a brief look for it in the car but it wasn't located in the usual spots that I am used to. Thanks Chris.

P.S. I searched under ECU and could not find out what kind of processor it is.

I beleive that the computer is hardwired and you can't flash it or add a chip like our old tour's. One big complaint anyway. You can find a MP3 computer and put it in for about 10hp but it's a lot of work and is rather spendy.

BTW welcome to the boards. You frequent CEG much?

Also here's a link to the ECU ?ECU programming

Wow quick response. Yeah I'm on it like every day. These car forums are like crack.

Bummer on the chips. I can get the hardware to reflash EEC V's if that is all it takes. She has the auto so I don't think the 3 will work without altering it. The sport auto trans she has is sooo sluggish. I'd love to bump up the TV pressure a bit...not to mention the timing.

Yes it is a ford EEC V ecu. If it can be flashed or not well some say you can some say you cant. Their is place in australia that does but I dont think they use are ecus. We do in fact have a ford EEC V I know because I swapped with a mp3. also the ECU is located under the passenger side feet. Lift up the carpet and you will this big metal plate type of thing it is under their.

SWEET! Let me see what I can do. Hopefully it has a J3 port.

If you can reflash the ECU without any issues, you might become quite popular on this forum, as noone has really been able to do it without problems (that I know of).

ATX? They are quite slow, this car really cries out for a manual and/or another 50hp. However speed isn't this car's forte, twisties and nice tight on ramps are all that this car is about. You'll be surprised at how quick it is in that environment, (even compared to the SVT, on the curves a mazdaspeed will give it a good run for it's money or even beat it!)

I know compared to my GL 2.5 ATX the P5 feels a bit slower, however I can hit one particular on ramp a good 10-15 mph faster then I could even dare approach with the tour.

How much hp are you pushing out of the duratech now anyway?

Kaiser July-28th-2003 11:28 AM

My best to date is 287hp and 274tq @ 2900 on 10psi. I cruise around town on 6psi and 240hp and 225tq neighborhood.

When my wife and I go out I drive the 5 and would love to have a little more umph. It corners great! No complaints there.

I'll take a look at it this afternoon and see what I need to do. The guy I get my stuff from says I can do any EEC processor so I'll find out.

I just took a look. That metal plate is something new to me. It is a EEC V processor and it does still have the J3 port to accept a chip. I have the box code so I'll place a call and see if I can get the dat file. Hopefully it will all work out.
