i was searching up about the ecu and i just want a direct answer. is there anything i can do to the ecu that shows proven results? also, is there a chip or something that i can plug into the MAF so that i can just bypass the MAF when doing anything for my intake?

sorry... No. nothing that actually helps, or does anything other than take your money. Unless you're going FI, there's isn't anything the ECU can't do for you.

ecu
the only thing you can do to gain power involving the ecu is getting rid of it. Haltech E6K and Greddy Emanage are 2 options that have been proven to work on our cars. as far as modifying the ecu, theres nothing you can do to gain power.

BUT UNLESS YOU'RE GOING FI, IT'S USELESS. :) The 1.6l engine doesnt have enough aftermarket support right now. We've got a CAI, some exhaust options, plugs, wires, a lot of suspension. Changing the ECU out for the intake and exhaust, is a huge waste of money. Save your money, and start looking at a new exhaust manifold, a nice little intercooler, some oil lines, a new intake, and a nice little turbo to feed it. then you can look at a nice new ECU to help with the new injectors, and all that good shit. blah. save your money. you own a 1.6. it's not worth it. (right now)
