ecu

if i get a new intake. would i have to change the ecu at all to get the most out of the intake. i don't want to buy a whole new ecu. but just wondering if i would have to mess aroud with it

wow....um, just unplug the negative cable, tap the brakes several times wait 10 minutes, reconnect the battery and enjoy....you may gain 1-2hp

wiht our cars u just need to reset teh ecu thats about it, so that the ecu can re-learn a few things, liek the airflow and etc....

just do what roddimus explains....

i knwo with other cars u will have to switch out the ecu... NOT for just an intake, but like RX-7s, when u have an intake, and ure exhaust fully done (dp, mp, cb) u will have to go aftermarket ecu to fully utilize those mods AND not to blow ure engine.....generally they say dunt go mp (or it was dp) without an aftermarket ecu, may it be a full standalone, or just a companies aftermarket ecu tuned to ure mods....

but our cars no

Yeah, I've heard horror stories of people with WRX's after adding CAI's and full exhausts! My mom just got rid of her 03 a few months ago, man I loved that car!

So, if I were to upgrade my stock air filter to a K&N, I'd need to reset the ECU as well?

Why? If there is increased airflow, won't the airflow sensor pick it up and just tell the ECU that more fuel needs to be injected.....?

Roddimus Prime May-25th-2004 02:15 PM

air flow sensor?? Mass air flow meter only measures the density of air, not velocity. K&N's (supposedly) allow MORE air, not denser air. Denser air is colder air...if you add an intake THEN you would want to do the ecu reset...and even then don't expect any kind of gain from it.
