Ebay cheapies, AEM, Ractive, Monster Flow or K&N Drop in?

I want an intake but i dont want to spend so much on an injen, id rather send more money on nice rims and have a cheapy intake. So which should i get?? I have heard good things about the ebay cheapies and i have heard good things about the Monster flow and the K&N drops.

But i really havent heard anything about the AEM or Ractive ones. The biggest turn off for the Injen is the fact that the filter goes into the wheel well, that makes it hard to take out and clean :( the steep price dont help matters either!

So help me out guys!

If it helps matters ill soon get the Racing Beat Cat back exhaust, or the MazdaSpeed exhaust, i just want the one that sounds the smoothest :)

Im so picky ;)

I have ractive, and it works nicely... and no matter which one you buy they will ALL work the same. of course, the filter might be the only picky difference. Personally, i would go with a new intake (not just drop in) and i bought the ractive one. SOund great, looks nice, and the throttle response it GREATLY enhanced... dont know if the drop in added to the throttle response like the intakes have
.

So if you want an intake, just go w/ the cheapest one....

you can always change the filter if you dont like it.

theres nothing that proves that the injen is a better intake than the aem. they are both high quality and use good filters. i personally chose the aem, bc it was a little cheaper and didnt' wanna mess with getting an injen and a bypass valve for it. neither of them are going to give you great gains in power or torque, and i'd be willing to be that either intake will give you about the same increases. if your looking to save money, id get an aem. unless someone gets actual dyno graphs of the two intakes on the same car, theres nothing to prove that the injen is any better.

I have the K&N drop-in filter and it works good. I cant say its any major perfomance increase or anything, but it improved throttle response and flow. It was worth the $30.

That does seem like a sweet deal! What size piping is it?

walight01 December-14th-2002 12:20 AM

its just big enough that you can slip the mass flow censor into the tubing without rubing anything. I don't know the actuall size. sorry :( OH and it doesn't require you to move the overflow tank either, i just had it moved b/c i was gona attempt to do a custom cold air setup until i saw this one on ebay.

Damn, that's the same intake I have!!! Looks like I should've waited a few months. I've never seen intake prices that low on eBay.
