E85 Conversion

Are Mazdas E85 compatible at all? Not out of the box but for the conversion. Curious how they would run on 105 octane.

like crap. The rule of thumb is that you want to run the lowest octane you can get away with before your knock sensor goes nuts.

Octane is the measurement of a fuels resistance to detonation. Race cars HAVE to use higher octanes because they are either a). running crazy compression, b). running crazy boost, or c). Running crazy spray....all of which increase PRE-DETONATION. You want the fuel to detonate on time...if the fuel is harder to detonate (i.e. Higher octanes) then you're doing your ignition system a disservice.

honestly, just run 89 and be done with it.

p.s. I hate E85...long live BioDiesel

I agree E85 is not the way to go... If Henry Ford didn't think it was worth using in the 1920's, I would think that's a pretty convincing argument... It's extremely inefficient... BioDiesel or hydrogen FTW!!!
