I have a 99 ES that I have ran in a couple of autocrosses and a rallycross. Returning home Sunday night from an autocross I noticed a vibration from the front end whenever I lift throttle. From previous experience with VW's the most likely culprit would be a broken cv joint. I have a couple of questions; is there another likely problem that would have similar symptoms, and are the half shafts difficult to replace on the Protege?

allen from my experience with FWD cars and VW's with an IRS....it sounds to me like you KNOW what is wrong.....the CV joint is your most likely culprit.....

I can't answer your second part of your question as I have never done this job on a Pro.

yeah I was hoping somebody would come back with something about maybe a small CHEAP circlip that was prone to fail, or some BS like that.
