Does an intake void the warrenty?

Hey guys. I just bought an AEM short ram intake for my P5 and I was wondering if it will void my warrenty. I know a drop-in filter won't, is this any different? Thanx.

The rule on this is that if they can PROVE that the AEM (or drop in for that matter) caused the problem you are seeking to have resolved under warranty that they do not have to honor that part of their warranty. They can not, for example, say that because you have an AEM intake installed that your radio is out of warranty.

No, it won't void the warrenty...

I asked a mazda tech last time i was there, and he said no.

Cool thanx guys.

It shouldn't void the warranty. The only problems I can see where they can say it is because of the intake is if the MAS goes bad or there is something wrong with the TB. If you are concerned, you could always pull off the intake before you take it into the shop.

so say that u have intake cai or shortram ,exhaust, custom piping and coilover ........and ur tranny busted for some reason, they shouldnt void ur warranty on the tranny

right???

Rider69 Jun 27, 2002 10:00 PM

If your tranny busted, than they shouldn't have a problem warrantying it.

Unless, they say that with all of the other things you have done, you are abusing it, then they would probably not cover. It would then be up to you to prove that it wasn't abused or get a lawyer involved. All in all, it could end up costing you more than just fixing it yourself.

rosendo192000 Jun 27, 2002 10:02 PM

dam that sounds like hella $$$$$$$$$$$

Rider69 Jun 27, 2002 10:08 PM

That is why you should at least try to have it repaired. If they deny it and you have been "abusing" it, it will be cheaper to fix it yourself.

the word from my dealer is:

"WE HAVE INTAKES, EXAUST, AND MANY OTHER ITEMS IN STOCK. THE WARRANTY CANNOT
COVER THE ITEMS WHICH HAVE BEEN ADDED AS THEY ARE NOT FACTORY PARTS. ANY
DAMAGED CAUSED BY OTHER THAN MAZDA PARTS CANNOT BE WARRANTEED EITHER. ANY OF
THE PARTS WE INSTALL HAVE PROVEN TO BE JUST FINE "

so there you go. it's a risk depending on how cool your dealer's going to be.
