does anyone know whats going on here?
ok here's the problem. I have a 99 1.6L protege with 92,000 miles on it. I know its time to change the timing belt but can anyone explain the following problem? When the car sits for a few hours and then i start it up it idols at around 2,000 rpms in park then in drive for a little while and will not move right away. Then it will kick in and go but jumps a tad causing my overdrive light to flash twice. Then it is fine and drives normal. I guess its hard shifting. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

dude you drive a lot!

Take it to get checked out. When was the last time you took your car in for a tune up?

hard to tell.. you should also look into changing the tranny fluid and filter when you get that looked at...

Thanks for the info. Yes i do drive a lot. I think the last time i had a tune up was at either 50,000 or 60,000. Oh and i just had the tranny fluid changed last month. So, i guess i will take it in for a tune up and see what happens. I know im due to change the timing belt but ya'll don't think that has anything to do with it do you? Thanks again.
