A DIFFERENT air intake question
I can resect a dogs small intestine and plate a broken leg - but I'm a newbie to car mods - I'm installing a CAI on my wifes P5 (romantic aren't I?) - When you remove the purge control valve (on top of the intake hose) - where do you then attach it to? Does anyone have any close-up pics?
(I didn't get good instructions with my CAI) Forever greatful... |
See if you can find a good copy of Injen instructions, they have a pretty good description. If not, I have a pic here of where to put the Purge Solenoid Valve. Sorry that the strut tower bar is in the way a bit. If I had updated pics of my Injen I would show you...but this is the best I can do now.

If I remember correctly I also mounted it using a supplied L-bracket...but see what you can do. The Purge Solenoid Valve is hard not to break when bolting it down, be careful! Good luck.

Here's one way to mount the purge solonoid. Just cut a bit off the vacuum hose, slip it over the P/S, throw a couple of zip-ties on there, and GRAVY! ;)

You guys are the best! Now if it'll just stop precipitating for 45 minutes so I can install it.

I took off the top right throttle body bolt and positioned it there and secured it back with the bolt. Worked great. Hope it helped.

A decent intake would have a mount incorporated into it's design.

Aside from the Mazda's sotck air intake do you know of any aftermarket air intakes that have an incorporated mount for the purge solenoid?

Injen, AEM

The point is now moot, but from the pics and instructions (at least from Injen) - I can't see where they have made a mount on the actual air intake for the purge solenoid - I also got a bracket with my air intake, but my INSTRUCTIONS (or lack thereof) - failed to indicate where the heck to put the mount - no worries, I copied "eggynatey's" idea - worked like charm - the simplest ideas/solutions are usually the best.
Air intakes - Faster or not, they sure as heck sound great!!! |
