call Ken from protegegarage.com tell him I sent you and he'll hook you up with the OEM unit.

yeah but you need the coil bracket also...it's still a good cheap mod if you wanna show off your valve cover.

Matt can you explain that statement about the coil bracket?

Topher October-27th-2005 07:20 AM

you don't need a coil bracket...it's all one piece.

Topher October-27th-2005 07:31 AM

the only thing i bought were the coils and wires...i think the wires were $50...the coils were $35...i'll see if i can track down the part #'s. i was lucky enough to have my valvecover replaced under warranty...the finish was peeling off. i worked at a mazda store at the time and they replaced it with a 626 valvecover. this helps to seat the wires properly...if you look at the 2nd and 4th wires from the left, you can see where they were trimmed to fit the p5 valvecover...that's where your stock coils mount...it's not an issue if you trim them...but this just looks cleaner...minus the hideous blue paint.

ignition coil: mazda part# FPY2-18-10X
wires: mazda part# 0000-18-149A

these are the same coils ran by tripoint in their proteges. they're supposed to be a better spark...so the give you a smoother powerband...hell, i don't remember exactly...i put these on 2 years ago.

Roddimus Prime October-27th-2005 08:47 AM

yeah, those look good. I didn't know they came with the bracket and everything.

Topher October-27th-2005 09:05 AM

yeah, all i had to do was move whatever that thing is that's mounted in that spot now...and move the wires to the opposite side of the motor...it really wasn't hard at all. i don't know if this will work with all of your s/c piping or not.

alex_aha November-7th-2005 08:58 PM

Hey, i changed my coils, new plugs and new wires, but cylinder 3 misfire code is still there, what can i do?

alex_aha November-29th-2005 07:41 PM

Topher November-30th-2005 07:18 AM

MC November-30th-2005 08:48 AM

hey man my dealer said the 99model had a service recall, i had a problem with i think 3 or 4 miss firing... iit screwed up @ my 100 000km service.. which they still fixed up for free so woo...
