As we all know, one of the weakest links in a stock car with a 5-speed, trying to make power is the clutch. Not a whole lot of options there, so i e-mailed Clutchmasters and asked about future plans for a clutch for the Pro5. The guy e-mailed me back today to say look for a clutch kit by the end of the year. This should be good news to some, i know it was for me. Thought i would pass that along.

Just my 2cents-ClutchMaster Stage 4 are great for turbo cars. Both of my buddies w/ turbo civics have them and it can take the power of 15pounds of boost.

Clutch is not a weakes link in STOCK car.
There're clutches available for Proteges(3 rd gen &PR5) for quite a while, but with stock engine, even with cams, intake and exhaust it's waste of money.
there's opinion that too much clutch will destroy tranny(with modded WRX example) and it's cheaper to live with some smell of burnt clutch than with blown tranny.

Just get the ACT pressure plate and keep the stock disc. It increases torque capacity to 268 lb/ft which is more than enough to hold most things you'll do mod wise. It's also inexpensive and allows you to keep the engagement properties of the stocker so you don't wreck the tranny.

Clutchmasters already makes a kit for our cars I do believe...

what would i notice if i were to upgrade my clutch this way? quicker grab? rougher shifting? shorter cluch life? more torque or hp?

It really depends on which clutch you get, but you can expect the engagement to be harsh, especially at first. My ACT clutch kit (pressure plate, friction disc) would surely outlast my car were it not for the N2O that I'll have in there soon. If you put a heavy duty clutch on a car with bolt-ons it'll last a LONG time. You won't gain any power, though you may be able to drop a couple pounds, depending on what you buy. I swear by my ACT, and it's the same kit that is available for new Proteges. The part number is Z66-HDSS. www.advancedclutch.com
