Check Engine Light after CAI install

I installed a CAI, and a week later, the check engine light comes on.
just wanted to know if this has happened to anyone else? Going to get my friend to put it on his computer to see what it's fussing about.

is the MAF pointing the right direction?? The MAF re-connected?? no vaccuum leaks? crankcase ventilation hooked up snugly?? Did you reset the ECU>??

Jackelope November-29th-2004 04:44 PM

yes, yes, no leaks, yes snug, no...
how do you reset the ECU. another friend mentioned doing that, but was not sure how.

thanks for the quick reply.

disconnect our megative terminal....step on the brakes....wait 20 seconds and reconnect everything....viola!

Jackelope November-29th-2004 04:51 PM

easy enough, friend thought you had to turn the key to "on" w/ negative terminal disconnected, or something, but he wasn't sure..
soo..
1. disconnect negative terminal
2. step on brakes (don't have to hold?)
3. wait 20 seconds ... viola!

kargoboy November-29th-2004 05:54 PM

Yup, easy as 1-2-3.
If that doesn't work, double-check all of the above and get back to us.

did you clean your MAF ??...And did you make a gasket for the MAF ??

Stueck November-30th-2004 04:15 PM

make a gasket?!?!? woah this is new, if you dont mind me asking, how do you do that?

Roddimus Prime November-30th-2004 04:46 PM

just buy some foam....the maf doesn't seat properly on these intakes and it sucks in weird air quantities and throws off the reading.

Stueck November-30th-2004 04:50 PM

just put some foam in front of the MAF?

THEGOLDPRO November-30th-2004 05:51 PM

lol jesus, you will more then likely have the CEL on forever, and to make a gaskey, go buy a bike tube, and cut it to fit the MAF hole on your intake.

THEGOLDPRO November-30th-2004 06:06 PM

here are the seal directions
