catback vs. axle back

i got in trouble last time for not doing a search before asking my question. so, this time i did a search and didn't find exactly what i was looking for. maybe i searched improperly. i would like to know what the difference is between the catback and the axle back exhaust. is there a difference performance wise. or, maybe someone could point me in the direction of the correct place to look. i just want to get the best performace for the money. if an axle back performs the same as a catback and is cheaper-then that's the way i want to go.

I searched with 'axle back cat back' and came up with this thread:

I hope this helps :)

VIP, the cat back does NOT remove ANY of the emissions equipment or effect it in any way, shape, or form....a cat back exhaust system will not effect your emissions. in fact some makers, such as BOSAL have a CALIFORNIA version.....I don't even live there and that is what I am using.
