cam gears?
Heres the story. I will turboin my car soon and i would like to retard timing. Now I called MSD they told DO NOT PUT ANY OF THERE products on my car. I was plaining on retarding via a DIS-2 system but since they said not i plain on going with cam gears.
Now UR sells them for 477$ now thats alittle high in my book. Has any one tried BP cam gears or miata cam gears to see if they will fit? Thanks |
I believe Tripoint Engineering had cam gears for the Protege...but I don't think they make them anymore. You could try to locate a set perhaps.

ummm..there is a difference between valve timing and ignition timing....cam gears will not do the same thing an aftermarket ignition will.
|
For future reference, SR Motorsports has both adj. cam gears for $349.

Why is that they do not want you tell sell you the product. I have seen MSD in cars much more expensive than yours and it works great. Is there any reasonable excuse why not to install an MSD, its just much better system. This I can tell you on some states aftermarket ignition systems are not allowed and won't pass visual inspection even if it is working properly.
But I am concerned why a company would not sell there own excellent products. |
The MSD won't function properly on our cars. Our lovely ECU and unique ignition coils are the problems I believe.

i belive that only the intake cam gear will go on, because the sensor on the exhaust side will hit the new cam gear. now someone can correct me if iam wrong. and as far as timing, you would get more from the ecu timing, then the cam gears.
