Cai = Bad!
I finally set up the cai and what a pos. I ran good for a while with no cel. BUt had incredible hesitation. Lets take a look hesitationis in the lower rpms.
http://web.njit.edu/~mg48/stuff/CAI%203%20nocel.bmp Then I was lucky enough to throw a cel finally. The car ran much better and smoother with minimal hesitation. It seems as though a cel and wot's closed loop is pretty much the same. http://web.njit.edu/~mg48/stuff/CAI%20run%202%20cel.bmp For referance this was before this crap. Just and exhaust, breather filter, modified stock intake. Anyone think that small bump at 4000 rpm is due to the resonator. http://web.njit.edu/~mg48/stuff/run%201%20stock.JPG I find that I really dont like cai's just becuase there are no power gains maybe even some losses, probubly unique to the 1.6l pro. And it sounds like shit. This thing sounded like a civic it was embarassing. Needless to say I intend to go back to an sri soon becuase that thing was nice. Albeit much too loud and the most hesitant, I miss my exhaust sound probubly do stock airbox with a scoop on front somehow. The cai wasent too bad tough the intake temp dropped to 80* which was really nice. The stocker would idle with intake temps of 150* moving it went down to 100 though. Never checked the sri but I would imagine that its probubly the same as stock. |
nah. Something went wrong in the install. There should be no CEL or rough running or 'really loud' noise.
It sounds like a air and or vacuum leak... |
You dont have a 1.6l this is completly normal with us. I know I installed everything right and its nice and tight.
The noise issue I mean the intake sound. The sri made the car sound like a beast when I got on the gas. Everyone was really impressed, the cai has a diffrent more rounded off sound to it, it is quiter then the sri but you can hear it even when im not flooring it, you know the cai normal sound. |
what brand CAI was it??
|
ebay brand! Rumor had it that the injen almost got rid of the hessitation but it was still there.
