Bucking in 2nd Gear?

Hey, all! I just want to say that I'm really enjoying the new car.

I'm also new to driving manual shift, so maybe I'm not doing something right, here. When I let off the gas in first or second gear, I feel the engine compression (which is normal). However, when I get on the gas again, the car bucks, sometimes quite noticeably. What I hate is that it happens in 10-20 km/h traffic, and I've seen people in other cars look at me! I'm not even changing gears, here... I'm staying in what the normal range is for each gear (if I believe what the owner's manual says).

This doesn't happen in third gear at all, in fact I find I can drive quite slowly in third gear with a very smooth throttle response, though I try NOT to go too far below 20 km/h.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

I never thought I'd be the one saying this, but try a search. This has been discussed quite a bit. "Bucking" is probably a good search term.

Basically, this is something that you pretty much need to get used to, or get around by slipping the clutch.. To me this is a definite downside of the car (it can't be perfect you know). Soft engine mounts, fast throttle "tip-in", and less than perfect low RPM fuel mapping are all likely factors that make this a bucking bronco in rush hour traffic.
