Bosal Exhaust

Anyone know where I could find the Bosal Exhaust system for my 2000 Mazda protege ES online for discount?

Also
Which would you choose ,
1. Nitrous System for the protege or
2. Bosal Exhaust system

Both are around the same price , but each are very different ,
What would everyone pick?

I'd say 'Do a Search', since the Bosal exhaust has been thoroughly discussed here. But instead I'll point you to http://www.protege5online.com, where Mitch(aka Protege5Online on this forum) sells the Bosal for both the P5 and the sedan for a very good price.

but do a search anyway, you'll learn a lot more about this exhaust (with pics!)! the button is at the upper right hand corner of the page!

Why are you thinking NOS? Too much risk of explosion there. I'd think youd want a exhaust before trying NOS.

So your saying the exhaust is the better way to go.

So www.protege5online.com is basically the only place I could find the exhaust discounted online.

Tried Google and other search engines but couldnt find anymore prices.

Where did everyone on this board buy there exhaust and what type of gains did you experience?

PS.

I used the search button.

Is this exhaust a simple bolt on or is more work required?
Also how much should I expect to pay for the system from Bosal?

Lastly which is the right one to get , the Federal one or the California one , I have a 2000 ES.

Send a email to ard mp5 or 3. He should be able to get you one at a good price. very easy to install...4 bolts...

Will I need a lift to put it on or can it be put on while the car is on the ground?

mkdxxx Apr 29, 2002 08:04 PM

I used a lift in my shop but I don't see why you could do it on the ground or use a set of ramps

When I put my catback on (with help from some friends) I just put car stands under my passenger side and got to work. You MAY need an impact wrench (air tools rule) depending on how rusted you stock bolts are. Also, a little lubricant will help you catback slide into the rubber exhaust hangers. Not much more to it.

You will need a higher flowing exhaust before you start squeezing the bottle...Also, the 2inch piping on the Bosal is a bit small for N2O...I would go with at least a 2.25in system for the most punch if you go nitrous.

Protege5online Apr 30, 2002 12:39 AM

Bosal is bigger than 2" I thought it was somewhere between 2.25 & 2.5"

pimpprotege69 Apr 30, 2002 09:58 AM

I think the bosal is 2.5 .

I'll just let a muffler shop put it on, save me lots of anger since I dont have air tools to get the bolts off.

How much Hp gain is expected??

eeterp Apr 30, 2002 11:09 AM

I believe 5whp but, I haven't seen any dyno's. This info comes from speaking with Bosal about gains.

Protege5online Apr 30, 2002 12:54 PM

Bosal is in fact 2.25" This is to gain the best power across the board. 2.5" or bigger would give good power increase at certain RPMs which would be great for race, but not good for daily driving. THats why they went with 2.25" good happy medium.
