B&M Short Shifter
 

I just wanted to say thanks to Roddimus and every one els for that matter on all of the advice I have gottin from this forum. I just installed my short shifter and it kicks major ass!! :D

How is it ergonomically? I take it that the shift knob is still in a comfortable location? How does the height of the new short throw shifter compare with stock (almost the same)?

:wee: I'm not 100% sure, but I am 6ft 1in and I have sit with the seat all the way back.
The shifter I think does sit a little lower but not so low that you have to bend over to get to it. Plus I thought the stock shifter was to long to begin with. I also thought it felt spungy, not this one. The B&M is so percise that it really takes a few shifts to get use to it, I don't know how I would prove it, but I say it has shortend the through more than 50% if not about 70%. I am very happy, so far that is the best money spent yet! Really, when I bout the car that was the only grip I had! I totlly recomend it. I got it from proetegarage.com! They are slow to respond but good on prices, I would rate them at about a 9 of 10.

instructions in the box were dead on! tock 30 min. to put in. I have been around cars for a long time but even if you never have touched a wrench befor it would take 1-2 hrs max.

It is lower but maybe and inch or two but nowhere near as short as the MP3 or Mazdaspeed shifters. I think its in a great place (I'm 6 2) But i also have aftermarket seats which mount aprox. 2 inches lower then the stockers.

I have a nother question. These kart boy bushings, are they the round looking spacers that go in the bottom of the shifter? I have noticed that it is a little hard to shift and that maybe I tightend the bult to tight down on the bottom! Any thoughts?

No, the kartboy bushings go on the tranny end of the shift linkage...and I highly recommend them as well.

I have them and the B&M....they are a great combo.

the B&M actually shortens the throw about 35%.....and the height of the shifter is shortened 1 3/4 inchs.

Ok, So now I know where they go. But I don't think that the bushings will help with the hard shifting! Is there a torq setting for the bolt on the shifter? I think I might have over done it!

I don't KNOW of a specific torque setting for that bolt. however if you did overtighten it, it would be putting a bind on the linkage.

on mine, the nut was a nylon inserted locknut, so once you got it snug...you didn't have to worry about it backing off.
