I was just on the Borla (www.borla.com) website and they are selling a stainless steel cat-back exhaust for almost $600.
Just thought I would let guys know if you already didn't.

nice, so we got them and Bosal now, how much does the Bosal cost again?

Bosal is dyno tuned 54mm (~2.125") diameter. Borla is 2.25" diameter.

So what would be the point of getting the Borla then if it is more expensive and not as well tuned for specifically our cars?>

What does that mean exactly? Dyno tuned for absolutely the best HP gain? Or Torque increase? Across the whole RPM band? A specific gain at a specific RPM range? Or dyno tuned meaning they built the exhaust, dyno'd it and saw increase in HP/torque form stock...i.e. "dyno tuned".

I am interested in what the Bosal owners have registered on a Dyno with the system on their cars.

What was your HP gain?

Where can you feel the diffrence the most...low end/mid/top?

Borla guy responded back to my e-mail within two days which is pretty good, but this is what he wrote.....

"ours has a lifetime warranty ,and their system does not...and ours will not be as loud as theirs"

as to the differences between their exhaust and Bosal's...

is selling stuff your top proirity or something? it seems like every reply you make on this board is to try to sell stuff

someone mentioned before that Greddy was making an exhaust for the Protege..any light on this?

Last I heard from GReddy, it will be a few months before its out:(

sweet....In my opinion Greddy makes the best in after market exhausts...sure it may be a bit more cash but its worth it..the name alone speaks for itself

It means that Bosal tested different sized tubing on a dyno until they narrowed down the size that produced the most power increase across the entire RPM range. Borla did not. They just produced a system copying the stock bends out of 2.25" tubing. I don't know of anyone that has or would dyno just the cat-back exhaust. None of them are likely to produce enough of a HP gain to warrant spending the money on dyno testing the exhaust alone. Both systems are made from T304 stainless steel, and will last longer than you will have the car, so the warranty is a non issue really. I liked the interchangable tip design of the Bosal muffler, and the insert that allows you to quiet the exhaust if you desire.

Hey Eric, Can you get the Bosal without the secnd cat and without a resonator? Or is it one way or the other? I know that they make two systems...one removes the cat but keeps the resonator and the other one removes the resonator but keeps the cat. Is there any way to get the pipes that do both? Also is the new cat a hihg flow cat?:dunno:

The Bosal exhaust for the single cat exhaust has a resonator. The Bosal exhaust for the dual cat exhaust starts behind the stock second cat, it doesn't replace it. You can't get a Bosal exhaust for the single cat system without a resonator, although I don't know why you would want to. The straight through muffler is still VERY noticable with the resonator. I have the insert Bosal developed for the muffler to quiet it down. That's perfect for me, a little louder than stock, with a nice agressive tone.
