AEM vs. INJEN resolution

For all you people who cannot decide which is better, AEM or Injen, I have a real answer. I went up to AEM in Hawthorn CA and spoke with the tech support guy, Robert Green. I asked him about development of a CAI such as the ones made by Injen or K&N. He said that they had a prototype for the CAI but found that it actually made LESS hp than the SRI. Why you ask? The CAI pipe being longer, causes the air to be pulled through the intake at a position farther from the engine. Physics tells us that the rate of flow is less, the farther it has to travel. On top of that, since there are more bends in the pipes, the air tends to technically get warmer, because of friction. So there it is. Hopefully it is solved. This info is not true for all cars though, only the pro and maybe some others.

It's an intake.

Jesus I can't believe you all are making such a big fuss over 1-3hp.

I wish these intake threads would DIE.

eggynatey February-17th-2003 04:18 PM

Sorry, turbo-boy, but not everyone has $3500 to spend. :D j/k
I was thinking... If the after-market intake were never invented, would this forum be as lively? Would we still be able to call each other "noob"? What a depressing world.:tear:
I just like the growl it makes.

Ambient February-17th-2003 04:28 PM

WTF, I never said ANYTHING about me having a turbo, so just shove that argument up your ass.

The fact is is that we have this same debate EVERY week.

The questions have been answered before, and people just need to search to find the answers. Stop whoring this forum with intake chat.

I'm sure you're right. But I didn't see anything wrong with this post. Sure, duplicate posts about the exact same topic are redundant. BUT! If every topic that's been discussed before is no longer fair game for new threads, and posting on old / long-since idle posts is discouraged ("welcome to last week!"), this forum will eventually shrivel up and die. We'll cover everything once, and that will be it.

Funny how you got this information from an AEM tech support guy. Something tells me that an Injen tech support guy would give you a different answer....

Hey...so be it, if a forum can't find the "new" then it should die.

Maybe you like reading the same stuff over and over again.

You know, something makes me think Edwin got that from Vortex...

Keep it coming! Keeping ongoing discussions going is informative for me. I've been a member for less than a year, and I certainly haven't figured out everything there is to know about Proteges.

Furthermore, while I could do a search, and find one or more old discussions about most any topic pertinent to our cars, there are still things that come up that I would never think to search for. I don't want to see this forum die. Or worse, I don't want to see Off-Topic take over (any more than it already has!)

Hey Einstein! EVERY time you post ANYTHING you let EVERYone know that you have a turbo 3 times(read your own sig)

Whoring the engine forum with engine intake chat? WTF?

Maybe this website should be nothing but a "search" button.

More friction thus making the intake air warmer? That difference would be minimal, like maybe 1/100th of a degree at most.

Bends do more to disrupt smooth airflow then increase the temp of the air.

Maxx Mazda February-18th-2003 10:22 AM

That AEM guy was giving you a line... You've been fooled!

s6xtysecassasin February-19th-2003 03:26 AM

I'm one to fight too, but every week i get on and we all fucking argue about stupid shit, but the intake posts are getting a little bit out of hand, just think this, our proteges are not going to get much from any intake unless their is some zex at the end of that filter, but Ambient your right this intake shit is starting to bug, do searches it really helps but maybe for now on intake shit should go into off-topic, because its really not a topic much of us care about!

Peace and love your mazda like if Brooke Burke was your girlfriend, with lots of lovin, and hit dips really hard! lol
