AEM Install question
 

Hey AEM people,
I just put my intake on over the weekend. I must say I love it, and I can definitely feel a slight difference in the higher rpms. I also enjoy the mean sound it makes. However one thing concerns me. The manual said that no part of the pipe or filter should touch any part of the car. I spent like 20 minutes trying to adjust everything so this wouldn't happen. The pipe is all good, the problem is the filter touches this small flimsy rubber hose by the battery compartment near the bottom of the filter. If I move it ever so slightly the otherway, it touches another part of this hose that is just a piece of metal that bends at two right angles and has some rubber on one of these angles. It seems to me like there is no way to get the filter to not touch either of these. I don't want to damage my filter or anything after long use so help would be appreciated!

If nobody knows what I'm talking about, I'll borrow my girlfriend's digi-cam and take a picture or two.

I just installed my AEM intake this past weekend. I don't think one can help not allowing anything to touch the intake or filter. I tried my best to make sure it was adjusted properly. Take a look at these pictures and tell me what you think or would suggest.

Don't worry about you 2 :) It will be fine. I see how your paranoid and stuff, but it wont hurt anything if its touching "something". Hell, my short ram for my accord didn't even come with brackets and it is resting on wheel well (Filter). Its perfectly fine :D

Thanks for posting the pics! Exactly what I needed. Yeah, in your second picture that metal thing that bends 90 degrees down, then 90 degrees left is exactly what I'm talking about. I've actually gotten mine so that part goes above the filter and rests on the top-rubber part of the filter. The only part that was really concerning me was the rubber hose that attaches to the same metal part, but the hose is so flimsy/bendable I guess I won't worry about it.

Glad to hear man :) Just make sure your filter is on tight, wouldn't want it falling off and sucking up something your engine don't like :)

Another AEM intake install question
 

The first curved aluminum pipe connects the throttle opening to the MAF sensor assembly.

There's a rubber (silicone?) connector that connects the MAF sensor assembly and the first curved aluminum pipe mentioned above. This rubber connector is somewhat cone-shaped, 3" into 2.5", if I remember correctly.

Now the problem is, to make a proper fitment, the first aluminum pipe mentioned above had to be pushed so far into the rubber connector as to create air trap ridges. See ASCII diagram below.

QUESTION: I don't know much about fluid dynamics, but should I even be concerned about this? Should I shorten the pipe? Or should I clamped down on the air trap ridges?

talking about the aem intake has any one tryed and contact the aem office to see if the "carb , eo # sticker"is ready or still pending

Off topic, but what kind of camera did you use to take these pictures with? Nice, clear resolution. I'm shopping for a digital camera, but not sure which one to get. Budget will be less than $350 (at least 2.0 megapixel and I prefer smartmedia or compact flash ... but memory stick will do if price is right with digi-camera) but I've been pretty impressed with the ones that are just a tad below $300. Thanks for any help here. :D :p :)

It is a Kodak DC3400 I bought it a year ago, and assume it is out of date already, but I have been happy with it.

I bought Kodak because they make other cameras and film, so I thought they would have a good quality camera... HTH
