i just cut an inch or so of the down pipe that leads to the fender well. I was getting frustrated at the time, so I sawed the thing off. The fit was perfect after that.

but the bybass filter wont fit to the pipe if u cut it

becoz the bybass filter has like 2.75" size and the pipe is 2.5
it seems it wont fit in

i think it went the other way around but let me double check. I did this months ago and havn't lloked at it since. I think the pipe goes inside the valve then clamped.

the pipe does go in the bypass valve. You have to cut the pipe to get them to fit on AEM CAI. You should have to on INJEN CAI's as well. I installed an AEM CAI in my friends focus and had to cut about an inch off the pipe and it fit nicely. The instructions that come with the bypass filter tell you to cut the pipe and tell you how to cut it. didn't you get those instructions????

You'll put the bypass valve in place of one of the red hoses that connect your MAF to your intake. It may come up about a half inch longer than normal but it fit in my car without a problem. And you wont have to cut.

The Injen pipe is 2.75 and the bypass is 2.5, that is why you have to cut some of the rubber off of the rubber inserts. To get the whole thing to fit length wise you cut a section off of the 90 degree rubber elbow that connects to your throttle body.:D
