99 Protege idle problem

Hey everyone...I have a 99 Protege DX 1.6L Automatic. Everytime I unhook the battery, then reconnect it my car does not idle high enough when you come to a stop after driving or after you start it. It takes it a few seconds to correct itself then it idles fine until the next time you take off and stop again. The problems seems to fade after a few days of driving and is perfect until the next time the battery has to be disconnected. Some people have told me that the computer has to reset itself and the problem is normal. But I was just wondering if any of you guys have noticed the same problem with yours...If someone could help I would appreciate it..

Thanks,
Barry

have you done anything to the car like upgrade the air intake? after reconnecting the battery are you starting the car and letting it idle for about 10 minutes without revving it up? if you've upgraded the intake, check for vacuum leaks, and if you havent let it idle, then do so. :]

you are correct...after a while it RELEARNS what its supposed to do....however....if after you have disconnected the battery for whatever reason...if you will start the car...and allow it to sit there and idle for about 10 minutes or so....this should take care of your problem.
