2000 rpm rattle

Do any of you guys experience a rattling when the engine is reved up to 2000 rpm. The noise seems to be a vibration from the instrument panel. This car has way too many noise problems, which are really hard to reproduce in front of a mechanic. They should have payed more attention to these details. This car sounds more like a 10 year old piece of crap. In fact my friend's ten year old corrolla sounds much healthier. I'm definetly not pleased with the worksmanship on this car. I can forgive the poor acceleration, even the ever present start up rattle. But cmon this car was not that cheap. No wonder Mazda has no resale value, in 3 years there will be no paint left on the car and it will be making more noise than a horse and carriage. I can honestly say that even the focus is built better, sad but true. All in all, I am not to pleased with my purchase, I think I based it too much on the car's looks and not enough on it's quality.

I'll stop here cause I'm getting way off topic and I'm just rambling.

In my opinion I would have to disagree. I have a 2002 P5 and have had no problems other than a seized up horn from getting wet and a broken door panel. Both were my fault. I have a rattling noise as well but I didn't have any until I put on my short ram air and aftermarket exhaust. The car really vibrates from the rumble of the exhaust. Just my $.02

"rumble of the exhaust".......and you've been smoking what now?

The rattling comes only at around 2000 rpm when the car is warm. I can hear it comming from the instrument panel. Now I know that heat shields are a common cause for rattling, but aren't those under the car?
