1.8L in a 99' Mazda Protege?
 

I currently have a 1999 Mazda Protege LX, it comes with the 1.6L engine. I took it to the shop recently to find out that a rod is bad. So now im stuck with the option of selling my car or getting a new engine, I figure I like the car so I might as well get the engine. My question is this.. can I put the 1.8L engine that comes in the Mazda Protege ES into my Protege LX? The shop seem's to think I should, but I need some real expertise. Thank's :)
