1,100RPM idle(paranoid newb.. plz delete)
just changed the spark plugs in my 2000 ES (1.8L) with some denzo iridium's(they didn't have NGK's.. and I had read that other people had success with them..so I figured why not) that autozone helped me find the right ones for...now.. when I removed the OEM NGK ones it looked like these things had never been replaced in the 59K miles the car has been in use..my dumbass had forgotten to get a torque ratchet.. and the nearest store with one was about 50miles away..so,it being about 8:00 @ night I decided I'll just feel it and just get one tomorrow I put some anti-seize on the threads and just closed her up until tomorrow..except, now(today..) my car idles@ 1,100RPM...
did I mabye tighten them not enough/too much? or is it possibly the wrong spark plugs autozone sold me?..I didn't tighten them as much as I possibly could..I had read a thread where it said approximately how much to tighten in case of lack of a torque ratchet, here. So I used that as a guideline. looks like the model numbers on the plug's box are: IK20 5304 edit 1: just went out and bought a $20 torque wrench with my brother's car, I'll post back if my idle's go down with the proper torque. edit 2: hovering arround 900-1K still, but it's an improvement.. I went around my neighborhood just to see if I was being exceptional paranoid.. I was =.= the first stop sign I stoped @ it droped to about 700RPM which is completely normal.. This was my first spark plug change on any car so i guess I got a little too excited.. this thread can be deleted. |
Yeah, it wasn't spark plug torque. I think the engine just had to adjust to the new plugs.
No worries, eh mate? |

Lozz,
in your signature, you state that you have an Injen CAI. Why are you switching to a ram intake? |

sweeet! That worked out well for you!
