rear sway bar??? anyone?

After endless search on the internet this is all I could find.

http://www.awrracing.com/pages/pro/prosusp.html

Does this sway bar fit, does anybody know of any existing sway bars for 2 gen. 1.5l???
Thanx!

I know one thing . I want the 19mm bar. As soon as my funds free up .. I really need a thicker rear bar.

So, do these sway bars from AWR racing fit and does anybody have one? Or a sway bar from a different manufacturer?

2slow-
AWR is the only I know so far that makes them. As soon as I get my H&Rs and KYBs I will place an order for one. I thought of getting an old one from a junk yard, but I do not have the time. Plus, AWR's is a better one anyways.

the 21.5 mm is on order. I'll have the stock one lying around in my garage then. Since i don't believe the other models have it, PM me if you're interested.

My car is at Corksport getting some tuning done to my Haltech.

Derrick said that he'd throw on a rear sway for me when i get it back. Didn't say much about who the manufacterer was and whatnot butI'll have more info as to what the exact specs and everything tommorow if and when my car is ready. =)

The AWR is better because its thicker. But you still need to install the rear struts from the ES model, whether old or new. The rear sway bar requires end links for installation, and only ES model came with rear struts that have end link tabs welded on to them. I am planning to get a set KYB gr-2s for my car, and to see whether the ones for DX/LX will have those tabs, because sometimes they do, when you buy OEM replacement. Because the if they don't, I do not know if the ES struts and DX/LX are the same. Other then the tabs, I would not think so, but the ES is a heavier car, it has discs all around, and the front discs are larger by an inch in diameter, so the mounting for the struts might be different. I will post here as soon as I find out.

so if i get the strut that has the tabs it will be ok..cos i purchased a rear set from hunter smith before and its also a gr2 but his intention for it was to lower the car by spring and mine to do it with coilover...i guess the gr2 wont take the same purpose as mine..but i really want to have the sway bars...let me know if u get it done in you ride..thanks..later

95-96 - dx/lx/es came with rear sway bars
97-98 - dx/lx - no rear bar -- es - got a rear sway bar..

the kyb gr-2's can hold up to coilovers , but it will depend a lot on your spring rate. My weapon r's laid a beating down on my KyB's . Maybe you may want to try the ground controls .. they are supposed to be good with the spring rates.

Once I get the msd 6 /carbon fiber hood / rims and tires out the way. I am going to look into the way bar (rear) ..

if you get this get the end link kit also because the stock end links are pieces of crap... i had to get new end links when i put my h&r springs and kyb struts in but didn't know these awr end links existed.... i plan on getting both the sway bar and end link kit... what is the difference between the 19 and 21.5 one? are their pros and cons to both of them?

All I know is that the thicker the sway bar is, the more improvement you will see in your handling. As for cons, I have no clue. Also, I think that 19.5mm AWR sway bar already comes with a set end link, but for 21mm you have to get a separate from them.

What a timely post...
I'll be swapping out stock springs and shocks this afternoon. I will be adding a sway bar at the same time and will definately post my impressions.

Wow! My old OEM struts were shot. Bought some KYB Gr-2 and some Intrax springs.
My 98 never had a rear sway bar. I picked upa stock sway bar from a 95 but it didn't bolt on...because the OEM stuts were missing the endlink brackets, making it impossible to use the bar.

Since the new shocks are universal for 95-98, they had the bracket. Springs, shocks, 10.8lb miata rims/Falken Azenis and sway bar...I gotta say I'm impressed.
It's a nice compromise between ride and handling. It really handles like a much more expensive sports car does right off the showroom floor.
