On Lowering and Camber
I hear when you lower your car the camber changes and sometimes too much. Anyone know of a way to mod it back to normal?

I would recommend an alignment. Some places would show you whether or not you need alignment. Though I never heard of it. The only problem I heard of, that was related to lowering the car, were driveshafts. In some cars, with our type of struts, if you lower a car to a certain point, the strut itelf will sit right on your drive shafts, so you are going to need to replace them as well.

i believe there are kits called "camber kits" and they fix the problem...my car is lowered 1.75? inches with the intrax springs and there isnt any negative camber

with the suspension that our cars use, you will only have to keep your eye on the toe, that is what will change , each and every time you lower or raise your car, Your camber won't go anywhere and won't be out of wack ...

very true , an alighnment should always be done , cause those tires are expensive, having the coilovers and having my toe constantly go out of wack , was the main reason my tires on the 16's went to shreads, and I just had to get rid of them ......

so does that mean whenver u adjust ur suspension up and down with coilovers youre screwing ur toe?
|
well say u adjust ur coilovers higher 1.5 inchs.....
so your toe settings change... then say u lower it back the 1.5 inches.. would ur settings return to the way that they were initially before u raised it? or are the toe settings changes unpredictable?? |
I've had coilovers ,, the saying ,"I'll drop it 1.5"'s and raise it 1.5" " , trust me , just throw that out the window, ... the way I had to measure was by either counting the twists or the ridges in the in the collar ,, wich ever was easier at the time, you toe will change though for sure .... maybe not a lot but it will change ...

If you can't adjust the camber then why is my tire being worn unevenly? Currently it's running on the insides of the tires. Could my struts bent?
|
It's wearing on the inside rim of the pass tire. But how in God's name do they adjust the camber? I know the toe is adjusted by the terminal (rod comming from rack & pinion) But how do they do the camber? I tought about loosening the strut but our 2nd Gens have two bolts thus preventing a pivot point. HOW HOW HOW??
|
only real means of adjusting the camber would be by using a camber bolt or a upper camper plate $$$ .. something to consider but it aint cheap
